The first 5 Months

From January 1st through May 1st we spent the time getting used to living in our trailer while Jeremy finished his job working for Pillar Performance.  We hopped around from place to place learning everything and trying to figure out all of the workings of our new trailer before we headed out on the road.  We stayed everywhere from Oceanside all the way down to Jamul and everywhere in between around San Diego County.  Some of our favorite places were Guajome County Park and San Elijo State Beach.  We learned what kinds of places our family likes to stay (places with LOTS of room), and we also learned the kinds of places we don't like to stay (crowded or not "family-friendly" places).  We learned how much our holding tanks can actually hold, and how long our battery will last.  We learned the hard way about making sure that the "poop tube" was securely stuck down in the dump hole before pulling the release, and making sure to do it SLOWLY!  As the boy's would put it we had a "poop volcano".  OK, enough of a visual.  We have met some wonderful people who we will be lifelong friends with and others who were just extremely helpful as we learned things the hard way.  We've met some older people who absolutely loved having the boys as neighbors and others who took one look at our 5 boys as they piled out of the van and gave us some dirty looks and choice words and went elsewhere!   We went back and forth over when to actually "get on the road" but I am so thankful for the 5 months we had to get settled in and learn everything we possibly could about trailer life.  Without this time I think we probably would have thrown in the towel and been renting a house by now!

Waiting for our trailer to be delivered!

Here it comes!!!

Figuring it all out...
